ETX M.aROBINSON, Consignee. f9 McDavid, Feb. 6, 1904. Editor Dally News: In the past few days I have re ceived several letters from my friends in different parts of the county asking me who I was supporting for sheriff at the coming primary, and I take this method in answering them all. I am for Mr.

A. H. D'Alemeberte. I feel that if the people will elect him to this office that Escambia county will have a sheriff that her people will be proud of. My experience as deputy sheriff for ten years has.

1 think, given me a good idea of what kind of a man it requires to make a good' sheriff. 1 have known Mr. D'Alemberte for the past 16 years, and I feel safe In asking all my friends to give him their support. I am sure they will never have anything to regret after his election. I am writing this with no feeling of prejudice, but am only giving my honest opinion, regardless of anything that has occurred between myself and the present sheriff.

I hope all honest-thinking people of this county before casting tneir vote will give this matter their careful considera tion. ALLEN W. BREWTON. Nearly Forfeits His Life. A runaway, almost ending fatally, started a horrible ulcer' on the leg of J.

"That's just like her; a photograph could not have brought out the lines of the Sumner better or more correct," was the way a reader of The News expressed himself yesterday afternoon when he looked upon the picture of the United States army transport as printed on the first page of the paper. The drawing was made from a chalk plate and was pronounced by all who saw it as one of the best pictures made by the process that they had ever seen. The picture was made while the transport swung at anchor in the stream yesterday morning and some little difficulty -as experienced in getting such a good drawing from the fact the ship stood with her nose to the docks almost the entire time she was anchored.

This kept the artist from getting a good side-view, and thus made "the picture all the more difficult to make. A lot of gentlemen who were watching the vessel also were very artxious to see the art3t at work, and this somewhat interfered with Mr. Downing, on the dock. "That old Daily News has certainly gone to the top-notch, and it shows that it has somebody behind it to push it ahead of anything in this part of the country, and will do it, too," was the ready compliment of one of the hardy laborers on the wharf. Homer Davenport Coming.

Homer Davenport, whose cartoons in the New York Journal, World and other papers have given him a worldwide reputation will lecture at the Pensacola opera house on Friday, taking for his subject "The Power of a Cartoon." No one is better qualified to' speak on thi subject than Davenport, for no one in America is able to draw a picture better Illustrating some leading topic of the day, political or otherwise. There is hardly a person in America who Is not familiar with his cartoons of the trusts. They are depicted with a ttge body, clumsy, yet powerful, with small head', set on a thick coarse neck, the face depicting cruelty and cunning, the crafty eyes out from under a low brutal brow, indicating a mind set upon the aquirement of wealth, regardless of the means used. Creatore's Concert, Creatore, wnose name has become synonymous with all the grace and ease, and musical temperament; characteristic of the Italian race, will appear at the opera house tonight with his Italian band. During the past few months this artist has sprung into the favor of the American music-lov ing public until his name bids fair to rival that of Mascagni and Pad-erewski.

His soul is of music and during "his concerts he lives In an atmosphere that knows nothing else. For Over Sixty Years.
